One of the quickest ways to grab your audience’s attention is to make them curious.
Say something that makes them think:
“Wait…what?”
Then don’t rush to explain it.
Simply pause.
Let their curiosity build. Tease them before you tell them.
Then, once they want to know where you’re going, take them into your story.

Startle and Wrap
In today’s lesson, you’ll see how to use it to pull your audience into your message.
WATCH the lesson:
PUT IT INTO PRACTICE
Look at one of the stories you currently tell.
Before you simply dive into the story, ask yourself:
“What can I say BEFORE this story that will make my audience curious about what’s coming next?”
Make the statement.
Pause so that you can tease them before you tell them.
Then wrap your story around it.
Until next time, keep speaking up!
