Nowadays I actually have my characters look less at the audience and more at each other until I get to my Foundational Phrase and look out at my audience. I’ve improved my staging. There’s always room to improve on how we use posture, positioning, voice, etc.

Hello Craig, great insight my friend. What I do is pause and emotionally get into some characters feelings. I take on the facial and body expressions before I say anything next. When I get it right you can hear the audience connect to me.
