What Could Be Hiding Your Humor?
What's keeping most speakers from being able to use humor consistently? Why can’t they find the funny in every speech? What’s standing in their way of receiving the highly-profitable speaking opportunities that come from keeping their audiences laughing and learning?

Is Your Humor on Lockdown?
Imagine there’s a bank vault but, instead of keeping money in it, it’s keeping your humor locked up. All you have to do is understand the combination to unlock the humor so you can use it to thrill your audiences for the rest of your speaking life.
Unfortunately, most speakers never learn the combination. As a result, this LOCK (Lack Of Critical Knowledge) keeps them from unveiling all of the humor and laughter that should be set free. It’s concealed by the LOCK. Believe me, it’s in there, but most speakers never access it.

THIS is Embarrassing
As a result of not being able to consistently and predictably uncover the humor in their speeches, many speakers become embarrassed and even start losing confidence when…
• Their audience doesn’t laugh at all
• Their audience doesn’t laugh enough
• Their audience perceives that they’re trying too hard
• There are awkward, unplanned, and unwanted moments of silence
• There are too many dry, boring parts
• The speaker tries to force laughs and it backfires

Usually, at that point, they’ll simply speed up to try to get the speech over quickly to end that misery. At the end of the day, these speakers and their audiences lose.

How do I know? It’s because, when I first started speaking, I had a LOCK (Lack Of Critical Knowledge) when it came to using humor and so I feel your pain. I actually went through 3 stages in order to finally be able to find the funny on a consistent basis. My stages were…
Stage 1: My first year of speaking I received absolutely no laughs. This is not an exaggeration. It’s a fact. No laughs!
Stage 2: I started forcing the humor. In fact, I forced it so much that my audiences began to cringe. I’ll never forget speaking to the Veterans’ Affairs in Baltimore City and opening up with a few irrelevant, forced pieces of humor. One audience member yelled out, “What does he think he is, a comedian?” Then he stood up in front of everyone and walked out. I was so embarrassed. At that point in my speaking career I was trying anything and everything but nothing worked.
Stage 3: I learned not to add humor but to uncover it. Not to force it but to free it. Once I made that realization, I searched for all of the secret, organic ways I could reveal the humor in every story and every speech. From that point on, I had my audiences laughing on demand and I went from giving speeches to creating highly-enjoyable experiences.
I’m 20 years in now and these humor tools continue to work like magic.
